Celebrating our Cultural Heritage

Local communities in Finsbury Park came together on  Monday 18th May to celebrate our cultural heritages and share a community meal. Many ladies dressed up in their national dress, including this lovely Somali lady who is also holding traditional artefacts from Somalia used for making and storing yoghurt.

We had some really interesting conversations about customs and traditions with people from Somalia, Somaliland, Eritrea, the Caribbean, Afghanistan, Nigeria, as well as the Middle East and England.

We learnt about food customs and marriage customs as well as memories of home.

Our community meal was made up on traditional Somali food and rice, English cheese and mushroom pie and Afghan noodles, which was enjoyed by everyone.
