Finsbury Park Trust supports and responds to community need in order to improve the lives of all people in Finsbury Park.
Our aims and objectives
Finsbury Park Trust puts on a range of activities to improve the wellbeing of local people and works in partnership with tenant organisations, local charities and other organisations to reach local communities.
As part of Islington Council’s Borough of Sanctuary programme we are putting on a series of activities designed to build community ties and provide a welcoming centre for the many and varied communities in Islington.
Our Saturday Socials take place every other Saturday with a selection of world cooks and information and activities. For more up to date information book your free place here.

Being able to cook great meals from scratch can really help stretch a limited budget and help us live healthily. Our new Cooking Club offers tips and skills to help you do just that. It’s drop in but please be on time so that we can start together. Starting Tuesday 17th February, we then continue for four Thursdays from 26th February.

We have regular events going on at the centre throughout the week. Most are open to the public but some need you to register in advance and have a waiting list. You can see more in our monthly newsletter.

Food poverty is a major issue in this area, with many people unable to feed themselves and their families one hot nutritious meal a day. The diverse population includes many migrants and refugees. Asylum-seeker hostels are also located nearby, where people have no facilities to cook for themselves.
Finsbury Park Trust has a large kitchen and in partnership with Jannaty Women’s Social Society and Islington Somali Community we have begun providing hot meals when funds permit, distributing surplus food from the Felix Project, and devising cooking sessions to teach people how to cook nutritious meals.

We are hosting health and wellbeing information sessions for the local community in our meeting room and community activity space, in partnership with Public Health Islington and the NHS.
We are delighted to host the new Black Health Hub, an initiative by Go Africa, which seeks to reduce health inequalities amongst key communities in north London. There will be a wide-ranging programme of focused health information and activities, including discussions about the barriers to getting good health care.

We are improving our outdoor space and will be building an urban courtyard allotment with help from our partners, teaching people how to grow at home and giving others the opportunity spend time in the open air.
